The whole region of Lower Silesia is extraordinarily attractive for tourists. Not only its capital, Wroclaw, situated on 12 islands connected by 112 bridges, with one of the most beautiful market squares in Poland and many other points of cultural interest, monuments, and interesting examples of architecture (e.g. the Centennial Hall, Market Hall) and parks (e.g. the Japanese Garden), is an intriguing place for newcomers.
Old castle and palace enthusiasts will also fiind interesting places in Lower Silesia: monuments such as the castle in Książ, Czocha castle and the ruins in Bolkowo and Chojnik have been attracting foreign tourist for years and their number is rapidly growing (according to a recent survey, the number of foreigners staying in hotels, motels, pensions, etc. in Lower Silesia has been gradually increasing, from 320.8 thousand in 2002 to 433.3 thousand in 2004 and 487.1 thousand in 2006).
